Radical Purity

It's Time to Get Radical!

I've heard that everyone wants to "fit in," but if you're interested in living out radical purity, you'll need to be different. Well, not different like: "Susan barks randomly during class, but don't mind that--she's just different." That kind of different is just weird, but sometimes being different is better than conformity.
Who determines when it's better to be different? God, of course. Here's what His word teaches in Romans 12:2. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Transformation means you'll be different, because most teens don't live like Jesus did. His motto was, "I do always those things that please Him (God the Father)" (John 8:29). So, if transformation to God's vision of a new and improved you is what you seek, and if you're not afraid to be unique, you may be ready to make the purity promise.
This is huge! It's kind of like the wedding vow, which is a promise to commit your life to your husband. But in the purity vow, you're making a similar promise to God.

Is this something God wants you to do? Yes! "I beg you, sisters, to present your bodies to God as a gift, promising from this day on to live purely and to prefer God's wants and desires to your own." (my paraphrase of Romans 12:1)
Not only does God want you to make this purity promise, but to not make it would be like defrauding God of what is already His. "You are not your own. God bought you back from Satan at great price. That's why you should be glorifying Him through your body and your spirit which are God's." (my paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 6:19b-20)
Please know that you should never take a promise made to God too lightly. You can't make it with exceptions or expiration dates. If you're not going to stick to it, you'd better not make the promise at all.
